Elyse's Trip to Thailand: August 2006

Day 37 Of Phuket

Hello Everyone, today the rain was really heavy and kinda of a extra sleepy day, school wasnt really intresting today, i never got to play soccer or there wasnt any fun classes! but later like 8th period i got a call from surapee telling me im moving on friday, i was shocked and confused bc, it came really soon and ive just gotten adjusted to this family, o well, ill be in phuket town close to robinson& oceania mall!! and im living with a dentist from my club. things seem good, hopefully its works out like this one, tho there is conflict with friday bc oaks surprise goodbye party is on friday and i dont think im moving untill saterday or tmr, whoknows. anyway for supper we went to this little restraunt up the street called swiss delight, it was awesome, food was great!! & they were so friendly! the owner is actually from switzerland and thiers two other thai workers, we talked to them, shes was really funny! anyway tmr is another day, talk to you then!!

Day 35-36 of Phuket

so the last two days(monday& tuesday) its been rainy here, not great,wheater but still hotter than home, schools goining great,i meet new friends everyday,and always have that intense game of football(soccer) at lunch with the guys inmy class haha, i love tosee thier faces when i play mybest game, i kinda shocked my selff oneday, it was funny. as for everything else its great, miss everyone alot tho~ oh i forgot 2 say, i got moms&dads parcel on monday, i finally have my rotary blazer!!! yippe and a beautifful canada sweater from justin&kathleen,thank you(wont be wearing it much here tho:P ) plus i got some candy tooo, yunnn reces peanut butter cups!! my fav!!! if u want me to write you, leave your adresss and ill send a post card!!! :) i would love to, kills some boring times thru the week!!!! infinate xs&os

Day 32,33,34 Of Phuket

Hey Everyone: ive been busy and im sorry i havnt wrote !
My weekend was pretty great, friday i went to school, a short day(love those) played some soccer with the boys, then left and met with karin, walked to her house, watched some tv&got a shower, then her host mom drove us to central we shopped and went and got some pizza(we were craving it) ahaha then went to swensens to get icecreamm:) we had plans to go see a movie but there wasnt any good movies playing so we continued to shop some more and then got a tuktuk back to merlin hotel, and walked the rest of the way to karins, we were bored so we decided to go rent a movie, we went to tsuayta and we needed a membership and they were closing so we didnt have enuff time to make one, so that was a bust, we just walked back home and watched tv, then her host mom came home and drove me home, i went online for the rest of the night and just talked to everyone who was online. saterday i didnt do anything except for a lot of sleep, msn and running, it was pretty boring, i was gonna do something with oak, but something came up. sunday my host family was taking me and karin all around phuket to see alot of stuff, in the morning in rained they cleared up, we planned on swimming but decided not to, after we got our pictures on patong beach, it poureddddd, like torental haha which lasted about 20mins, my host mom took us to kata/karon beach and jus drove around a bit, then we went back home for a sec, then na-eh took us to the aquarium and then promthep cape, mai harn beach & look off(where i met some tourists from brazil&belgium) they were really nice, they wanted to know about phiphi so i told them about it and showed them my pictures haha i felt like a expert lol, after that we went to central and ate at phuja nirvana(a indian restraunt/bar) it was so unique i loved it, food was great! after that we droped karin off and went home, i took so many awesome pictures i used every memory card i had and i have no memory left haha ahh, and my computer is still in the shop! anyway it was a awesome day:) & a great weekend!

Day 31 Of Phuket

THURSDAY;
So today when i woke up, air was sleeping on the couch she came home last night at 4, ouch. at school, we had our class photo taken, air came home for that i guess she leaves at 3 today so i wont see her before she leaves, so i said bye and gave her a hug!. after that my class was writing a test, so i left with nung and oak to nongs class, on the way i met up with the soccer coach he said im on the tEAM:):):) yayyyyy i start practice next week im so excited now i can do something else during the week:P, ps its a boy team ahah owell. so i went with nong and oak, and this class was writing a test so i went on the computer and talked with holley:) after that i went to my thai lessons,(my class was in double bio) so i came back between the 2nd period and i sat with poom , toyoshi, sim, ahh forget his name(im horrible) anyway that was fun bc they love to make me laugh haha. After that it was so random, the guys tell me were goin "outside" so we went and jumped on this truck bus thingy hahha and we went to this coal minning museum, it was fun. next we didnt have to go to class because we were late getting back, so some students were singing in a kareoke contest, my friend koon sang, she did so good, we all cheered for her!!, then i went home, a guy thats works with my host parents brought me home like 20 "english" magizines ahah :) finally something to read in those boring science classes lol, after that i watched tv, went for a long run(gotta keep in shape for soccer:) then i ate some supper, and made plans with karin for tmr night!, soon it will be bed time,

Day 30 of Phuket

Wednesday: i had school, nothing much exciting there except that i played tacour with the guys at lunch, always fun. and in english class we did another test, all the guys sat by me, so they could get help haha i jus laughed. after the test we played a game kinda like bingo but you had categories and letters and u had to get a word in "english" with that letter to fit in the category and in a row of 4. the class was split in 2 so both were yelling for me to be on thier team , i was the host u could say so it would be fair, this game was hard for them bc they dont know much english words, but the side i was sitting on ended up being the team that won, it was alot of fun.
After that i met am, and we went to fridays for some oreo shakes, yummm. then my host dad came and got us,took us home and i got a shower and worked on my power point , and rushed to the rotary meeting, it was ok. i did my speech but the projecter wasnt working so ill have to show it next week. this meeting was really sad bc, we had to say goodbye to Pla&lin, i gave them canada shirts for thier farewelll, im gonna miss them, it will be so much harder when oak leaves:( after the meeting we took pictures and showed pla off :( (pictures will be up later) anyway that was my day!! misss u all so muchhhh:(

Day 29 of Phuket

Hello everyone!! today was a intresting day, i went to go meet my teacher thats teaching me thai, but she didnt show up so i had a few sleep periodslol next i went to pal, which pui, fern, mee, and toyoshi did a presentation on cpr, ahah it was pretty funny bc the guys in my class were trying to take of toyoshis (chee) shirt and socks while they were presenting, i was weak the whole time. the rest of the day was okay, always intresting with my class, anyway they had bio but the teacher let me use the computer, so i send shae a email and jus browsed the net. our next class the teacher didnt come so we all jus sat and talked, some1 bought thai candy and gave it out, i tryed and it was gross , but they think its delicous, haha poom saw the one i didnt try on the table and was like "u want me to have?" and i said yeaaaa take it (bc i didnt want it) lol and he said i was a lovly girl very nice to do that ahha, i guess by thier reaction when they passed them out(a few of them went crazy and didnt want anyone to have any and took the bag and ran, but they gave me some before they ran) so poom i guess was surprised i let him have it.:P after that we had english, which was funny again, bc the teacher was talking about errands and asking them what it was, and i rasied my hand bc no1 else was, and i explained what it was, everyone of course cheered me on, bc i cant answer a question in another class, bc i have no idea what thier saying. after taht he wanted a explaination of wat it was, everyone looked at me, and he said"some with dark hair maybe,.." haha i was weak. so after that i went home changed and went to Plas goodbye dinner with rotary, shes leaving on thursday to USA, gonna miss her:(
after that surapee and manepeen drove me an am home, and i jus chilled worked on my powerpoint project for tmrs meeting.

Day 27/28 Of Phuket

hello Everyone
Sunday: i woke up early bc i was supposed to go to the beach with karin, but there was a rotary bowling thing at 10;00 so we went there and ate breakfast & lunch we played 3 lines. tho it was big ball bowling and back in canada we only have the small ones. anyway my first game was bad bc i was getting used to it, the second game i won:) and the last game i was a few points behind from winning, but all in all it was a fun time!!. after that we went to karins, there was a mix up with the beach, we couldnt get a drive so Pla and her mom took us around town at 5;00 (before that me and karin were jus hanging out at her house till pla came) pla took us to the sports plex park and we walked around there, went to the chinese market bc karin never saw it, tho i did bc i went with oak yesterday, after that we picked up pla's brother and went to MK restraunt, its a chinese restraunt popular with thai people, theres one in everyone mall and it always booked. after Mk i went home and worked on my power point presentation for rotary on thursday, i have to do a 15minute speach in thai.. yikes! after that it was late and i went to bed.

Monday:i went to school, nothing exciting, we had about 4 classes off so i got to catch up on my lack of sleep lastnight and hang out with some of the girls in my class, after that i went to some classes and came home, took my laptop into the toshiba shop to see whats wrong with it, so supposidly it storms alot here and everyone unplugs everything so nothing gets damaged by the storm, well nobody told me this, so i left my plugged in one night and it stormed and yup, my computer is shot, the guy said it might be my motherboard i hope not:// otherwise i might of lost all of my picturess so far:(((( so im kinda pissed about that everyone pray its jus my battery!!, so im not really doing anything else but work on my presentation and i wrote a few postcards, so ill go to bed soon, goodnight!

Day 26 Of Phuket

Oak Nung Kim Pear & mE

Hello everyone!! so today started off slow, woke up at 12 , got a shower and called oak.we made plans to meet up at 3. so untill then i jus chilled, watched tv, ate some lunch and got ready. so Na-eh drove me to meet up with oak, it was a surprise to see nung pear and kim!:) so right away we did some kareoke, which in most malls they have this place with a bunch of booths to sing wiht your friends, its quite popluar here in thailand, and of course we sang in thai, which after that my throat was sore, but alot of fun none the less.!:) so we walked around the mall to kill time, then some more friends from my class ice&tap picked all of us up and we drove with them for a bit, and we went to swensens to get some ice cream fondu ..mmm soo good:) after that we went to a few stores across swensens and looked around a bit. after that we said bye to pear bc she had to go, and continued walking up the street, we stoped at peous house, but he wasnt home, so we kept walking till we got to the chinese market, we looked around and ate some chinese food, we walked by a fendor that was selling bugs.. like cockroaches and grasshoppers, yuck. oak dared me to eat some but i didnt. nung said they taste good, but somehow i dont believe her lol. after that kim had to go so we said bye to him, and continued to look around the market. we played a dart game, which me and nung got keychains :P and oak played this other game where u try and catch a fish in a net, which was hard. im guessing you get to keep it if u catch it haha, but he had no such luck. after that i called nah-eh to come get me bc they had to go home, nungs mom picked her up on the way back to robinsons , and me and oak got some ice cream at kfc, and waited for his mom/nah-eh. i said bye to oak and went home. Waiting at home was tanit, surapee and manepean memebers from my rotary club, they came to talk to me(nothing bad) i guess jus to check on me and see if im still loving thailand(which i do:) anyway we talked for a bit more, and they left. i went on msn and talked to karin the other YE, we made some plans for the beach tmr at 11,cant wait:) not sure what beach but it should be fun. after that i called holley bc of her bday, aww i miss her and everyone else so much, we had a good chat! so its 9;33 now so i plan on jus relaxing for the rest of the night, so untill tmr goodbyeeee!

Day 25 of Phuket

Hello ameigOs! todayy, i woke up early wich was werid(9am) yikes, but it was good i was talkin to sean and holley, Today is holleys birthdayyyy yaY!!! happppppY 18th girlll, love and miss yoUU!:( after i talked to them i was tired to i went back to bed, slept in till 12, watched my favorite teamm, madrid(every game i watch them play they always win, thier amazing so is the goal, wowzerS!) anyway it was and exciting game. after that i talked to karin(ye from oregon) we made plans for later tn:). after that i ate supper, i was supposed to bring my laptop in, but the guy was busy so ill bring it in on monday!. after that na-eh drove me to karin wich i was there 8-12;30 it was fun we played cards, talked, watched tv, and made more plans for next weekend:P so its pretty late now, so im really tired, im gonna go to bed, tmr me and oak should be doing something, not sure what or when. ohhh PS Laura i got your letter todayyy:) yay haha finally made me miss home alot!:(

Day 24 of Phuket

Hello everyone!! so today im actually feeling better, tho now i have a headache, cross your fingers this is the last of it!!. So today was another typical Day at school, some different things i did today; i went to my first actual thai class, i learned some of the thai alphabet, and the basics of thai, like i, you he/she they, it them, how, all that fun stuff!! haha my teacher is Mai pa porn she is great, pronouncing it is the difficult park so many high and low sounds, with different meanings it does get confusing and seems useless, but thats thai! haha. so today i had english, we were given this sheet i finished it the minute i got it and about 17 people swarmed around me to help them as well, english here is like grade 4 level its crazy!! and again the teacher didnt show up, wow this is becoming regualar everyday stuff, i guess they dont have subs here in thailand, which i can get used to another free period;). Also nung informed me that i might be able to be on the schools soccer teaaammmm yay!! so i talked with the coach and he asked me what i played and stuff, and to talk to him again on mondayy, woott hopefully it works outtt, i need to get back to the exercising otherwise ill be softtt, cant have that!!!! well after that i went with nung bc shes not im my class anymore bc she has to go back to the m5 bc she has to do the year she missed, bc she went to USA last year, anyway the girls in my class had to get thier hair cut by the teacher, which here is a thai tradition, i got scared i thought i had to get mine cut aswell, but i didnt of course:p, so anyway we went to her class and i met some of her class mates, some of the guys were playing guitar it reminded me of the boys back home , mike sean dan and remy :( aww. after that it was time to go home so i met with am and egg at fridays waiting for my host dad, we went home and my host parents went to patong so me and am jus chilled in for the night i watched "Deep Blue Sea" the only thing not in thai for hours lol ahh almost went crazy. anyway its like almost 12, gonna go to bed, goin to take the laptop in tmr, somethings wrong with the battery i think, cant turn it on, i think it overheated or something, atleast thats wat dad thinks.!!

Day 22/23 of Phuket

hello everyone; and so my luck continues.. Im sick again;/
Tuesday; today wasnt fun at all, i got up with the intention of getting ready for school, when i got so sick i was throwing up, had a fever, headache upset stomach, couldnt eat.. horrible! as the day went on my headache/stomach aches continued everything else faded, i thought it was sun stroke, cuz i was all day in the sun monday, but now im not quite sure. i didnt go to school, i layed in bed/couch and watched tv. i didnt get better at all, so i took a early night with some pills, tylnol and i think it was a thai verson of tums lol. helped alittle i guess.

Wednesday; still feeling crummy, but went to school anyway. my stomach hurt so bad am and her friend vicky took me to see the school nurse, i took something like petobismol, with out the pink. anyway that helped till about lucnh. so first class today was history, kinda boring bc there was a bunch of long presentations. Kim asked me to be in his group for another class, which i didnt really know what he ment but agreed anyway. next was math, which was also boring so i jus sat there and listened to some music, lol killed some time. next was lunch, by this time i was starving so i ate some spicy rice and chicken..yuM!. after that the boys were playing tagcor, and invited me in to join, it was fun haha(im getting better at it!:) next was actually im not sure, bc a teacher didnt show up, so again poom told me they were playing soccer so i went and played. at the start there was 10 of us then 3 more joined in on the other team, i think thats why me , bing, doot, tap, and tam lost. o well i had tons of fun, we were all hot so we went to the foutain thingy to cool off, i bought a water, they were all grabbing at it haha. Next it was buddism class, which really is about monk history how u rank the monks and so on, well that was our class today anyway. during this class we did this secret friend thing( kind like secret santa or on valentines when u send chocolates or candy, saying from , your secret admirer) anway for the rest of the term you will buy something from the cafeteria and give it to your secret friend, without them knowing it was you. to get your friend is the fun part, each person gets a little square and then draw a picture that symbolizes them, and u put it in a hat. everyone draws one individually and shows it to everyone, if they picked the one you drew, thier your secret friend, you dont know who has you. so tmr will be the start of it, should be interesting. After that we had english with foreign teacher, which the class had to do a test, so i did it anyway, it was extremly easy of course and i was done in 5mins, after u finished you had to go outside the class and wait, everyone was yelling and cheering i guess bc i was done so quick, kinda like my essay i wrote last week lol. i was out there 30mins, till the next person to finish came, after that pretty much everyone finished. after the test, we did that group thing kim asked to me be in. it was me bing and another girl in my class(forget her name;/) this skit was like a son who changes his appearance like ither getting a tatto or piercing or even changing his hairstyle/or having a sex change lol. anyway the father hates the idea and the mother/sister agree with them. i was the sister, the other girl was the mom, kim was the dad and bing was the boy. our group wa s funny, bing has a tattoo with a duck, saying ducky and a website and also a stupid hatt and he wore his boxers above his shirt, another group did the going away to college thing, he came back and was a girl, that was really funny. so our next class was supposed to be double science and gym, but our teacher didnt come so it was double gym( which we learned self-defence stuff, i can flip anyone anysize! haha..watchout!) next week were learning muay thai, which is thai boxing!! cant wait. so bc the teacher didnt come our class got out early, so poom, toyoshi, pear, nung, pui and waan took me across the street to Fridays, a restraunt/bar and we jus chilled got some sandwiches and some smoothies :) then am was finished so i said adios them, and went home, so when i got home i jumped in the shower thinking i was goin to rotary, but am told me i wasnt bc my host parents were goin to patong, and we wouldnt have a drive, then it rained so then didnt go, by this time is was 6;54 and the meeting started at 7 and i didnt bother doing anything so i put some pjs on, so i would never of been ready/got there in time so i didnt bother goin, they already called tanit earlier so he knew i wouldnt be there, so my night was kinda slow, then i called vickyyy and we talked for a bit, and agian my card ran out, gotta get more than 200baht next time!! sorry vicky , lu:( anyway im gonna go to bed or somthing, after tmr isss the weekend, hopefully ill get betttER!no school on friday.

Day 21 Of Phuket

Hello FriendS:) Today was my trip to phi phi(prounced p p ) so we woke up at 6, my host dad drove me and Am, to chalonge bay, we waited for about 10 mintues got a Tour Van to the other peir, met up with Egg and aboarded the yacht, while boarding people took pictures of me(later to find out it was a sovenier, i jus thought it was like some person takin a pic of me like before, i bought it for 100baht which is 3$cdn. anyway while on the 2hr boat ride, i met this tour Guide named william, whos son was in ams class & after the trip told me hed give me a free tour anywhere id like to go, but to tell am to tell his son willy i wanted to go. yay:) so yesterday there was a earthquake around phi phi island so the waves were really big and rough, egg got really sick and kinda of ruined the trip for am bc she stayed with him behind. so we while coming to the islands william(the tour guide) showed me this cave that is said to have a vampire or something manys year ago, or so what i understood from what he was saying. we also went by bambo and mosquito island. we got to phi phi don, and i aboarded the boat that took us snorkling, while am and egg stayed back. i had so much fun, i had a underwater camera and took some cool pics of the reefs and stuff hopefully they will turn out. i'll scan them when i finish/devlope the pics. while snorkling i dropped my mask so i ended up cutting up my nee, ahha i thought a shark was gonna eat me, but i didnt see any so i just kept snorkling and taking pictures. we only had a hour snorkling so, after that we went back to island and went to the restraunt, i met up with Am & egg and ate lucnh. after that egg was still sick so me and am went looking around, we walked up to the beach and looked at a few stores, i bought a souviner t-shirt, its purple! we only had till 2, so we didnt have much time. im goin again when air is back in town and we will stay the night and do some different stuff. cant wait hoepfully no1 gets sick this timee~!!!!. on the way home the waves were 10x bigger and the boat was all over the place, the people outside the yacht were soaked coming back in, haha it was funny. also one wave hit so hard it made a leak and water came down below, got this guy soaked, he was making fun of his friend that got wet upstairs, jus before it so it was a little payback i guess haha. i had so much fun, but im sure it coulda been better if egg wasnt sick. anyway my night was just relaxing after that i ate supper, and watched a soccer game, and im probly gonna go to bed soon. oh yea i forgot to mention today is monday and we didnt have school bc of the queens birthday and friday we dont have school ither!! yey:) short week. awesome! Day 20 of Phuket

Hello everyone:) so today was a rainy sunday morning, i woke up around 10;00 and went for a run around the block, jumped in the shower, did some more laundry then me Am her aunt and a friend of the family who is from london, and my host mom, all went to central and ate supper at Sizzlers steak house. then after that me & am went to phuket town and picked up egg , then went to the kodak store and bought a underwater camera for tmr, bc we are goin to phi phii!!!! im so excited i cant waittt:) after that we went to chalonge bay to buy our tickets for tmR!!! after that we dropped egg off and came home. then me and am walked up the street to the store to buy some munchies for the trip tmr!!! for the rest of the night im just gonna relax and watch tv, take care
