Day 7 of Phuket

Hello everyone!!school was amazing i had so much fun!:) ill begin with the start of it, i wake up and get showered at 6 and we were in the car and at school by 730, we went to the school, and i went to the office, and met the english teacher that is head of the department, and then oak called me and i met up with him. he took me to our class and introduced me to everyone in my class, after that the bell rings and the whole school goes outside in the field ( your sperated by gender so one of the girls in my class helped me out) and u croutch down, because its sand and some grass spots(this is where they play soccer) but your croutching and neeling while the annoucments and national anthem is going on, and your there for like 45mins(its gets extremly paintful) but tmr i was asked to speak if front of the school of 3000 students and tell a little bit about myself, oak and another student will do this also, i get to do it in english of course:) which im glad bc my thai isnt so great yet, id be alot more nervous! ill tell you alittle bit about the thai school system, the students are one class(like jr high back in canada) and they all travel to the same one together, me on the other hand will have special privlieges bc some of my classes are very hard so i will pick another subject to study, and be in a different class jus for that subject, all the students in my class were so helpful and nice, made tons of friends:) anyway after that you go back to your class, wich in my case was math( but they were writing a test so oak and my new friend decided to show me around the school. then bio, but no1 was there so we jus talked, after that we have chemistry, ahh wich i totally was lost in, because first of all i never took it in canada and also it was in thai haha, but oak taught me some new thai words. then after that our class went to a sewing/cooking class but untill next semester its a off class, which is great bc u do nothing and jus hangout with everyone, in this class a few of the guys(cute by the way) wanted to teach me some thai, of course i let them, they taught me 1-10 in thai, which is cool:) in this class i took a picture of some of the girls, i didnt take any more pictures, bc i was so busy, but tmr i promise i will have alot:) any after that it was lunch time, the school has a cafeteria which a meal is about like 25baht about 75cents back home!! but u buy coupons and they have numbers like 15 , 5 or 20 and theres stations that have thai food and its says how much like (15) and u jus give that coupon. this was my favorite part of the day, after lunch all the guys in my class wanted to play soccer with me, because i told them i play back home, so we went to the field and started to play, they were surprised bc i was a girl(girls dont play soccer in thailand) and also how good i was, and playin in a skirt haha it was so much fun, i even got a goal:)(im usually the goalie:P) so the team i was on had some amazing players and of course we won:). anyway by this time we were extremly hott and sweaty but it was off to out next class, thai language which was heaven bc it had air conditioning(most classes jus have fans. this class really isnt about the lanuage its more about compareing things and alot of laughs, i think this will be my favorite class once i pick up the lanuage. after this we went to phisics, this was kinda boring at the start,but then we started doing experiements and stuff so it was great. well that was a awesome day for me , and my classmates are so funny and kind, i love school here! so i met up with Am(my host sister) and we met my host dad outside around 4;15 and headed on home, but we made a stop at 7eleven and got some junk food haha, after that i had time to change, and then it was off to the dressmaker to get fitted and sized for our oufit for sportday!! after that we stoped at a little restraunt and picked up some food and came back to the house and i met, afew more relatives of the maipanich family, now im gonna eat my supper and probly jus relax for the rest of the night , then sleep,and up for another exciting day at school, and the big speech infront of everyone tmr, wish me lucK!!

p.s i forgot add, im the only exchange studnet in my school and i dont quite fall in line with everyone else, so alot of people were looking at me and smiling and some even bold enuff to ask my name and where im from, it was great. made alot of new friends that way. after tmr everyone will know my name:P

Day 6 of Phuket

Hello Everyone, today i experienced a new phenonenon, a monsoon!in the months of july to october is thailands rainy seasons, so today was my first of many to come, haha i know what ur thinking a rain storm exciting?? but i thought it was, for some reason! so because of the rain there wasnt much to do so i watched the complete 10th season of friends! ahaha. around 6;30 my host family took me to another seafood restraunt, jus up the road from the other one, i didnt get to get pictures before i left because it was dark:( after that we went home and me and Am continued to look for ideas for our dress to wear on friday, im so excited we will go buy our material next week and meet the thai dress maker!:) so tmr is the big day for me, i go to my frist day of school here(i feel like im 5yrs old again!) but it will be fun, i will call oak when i get there at7;00am so he wil meet me and show me around(were in the same class and everything:)) the lanuage is gettin better, im trying my hardest!

day 5 of phuket

hello everyone! i miss u all so much, right now its very hard for me because i am still settling in and air went back to hatyai and theres no1 my age to hang out with, and i havn't had the oprotunity to meet up with oak or anyone else my age. but i start school on monday, which im am very excited for because i get to make friendS:). this week will be a fun week to start because wednesday, thursday, and friday is sport week at my school, we will go to the stadium and watch some soccer games!! woo( i cant wait to start playing myself). as for myself im very pround to say that ive learned and masterd the art of chopsticks and now am a pro!!! haha also learned how to use a asain washing machine, which its quite difficult and confunisng your first try. some upcoming events that i look forward to is my trip to bangkok with air(my host sister) and am(my younger host sister) chealsea(YE from vancover) for 15days. we will see the ins and outs of that wounderful city in october. today was a mildly busy day, after i learned to use the washing machine i went to the bank to exchange my US$ to Baght, i went with am and her friend. we went to a japanese restraunt in the mall(central festival) and we met up with ams friend, but i forget his name. after that i came home and watched once upon a time in mexico, ahh i remember back then when i was there!! ahha anyway later that night na-eh took me to the local saterday thai market, very huge i might add, i managed to bargain a pair of shorts, which love:) and got for 240 baght!!. on our way out of the market i passed this guys booth and started yelling at me as soon as i walked by him, and flaging me over like i knew him, musta been the red hair:P nah i guess he noticed i was forigen(how couldnt u not tell) anyway he said i was beautiful and asked me where i came from, with pride i said "canada" and imediately he smiled and pointed to his hat and was like "öh canada, great country, my favortite country ever!!" he was cute too:p anyway i was proud and glad to hear that!!. after that we bought some food and went back home. am asked me to walk with her to help hold the banner at the school sports week parade, i am honored and helped her design the dress that we will wear, im quite excited. well will go to a tailor tmr and start gettin fitted for them. anyway that was my day, i will go watch a movie and head to bed,

Day 4 of phuket

today wasnt really a busy day. i jus woke up ate, sent a few emails and watched tv, had a nap ate lunch, and then watched some tv. then nä-eh to me to sizzlers restraunt for supper and shopping at central festival(phukets mall) i bought a skirt :) haha i jus practisced some thai(im getting atleast somewhat better) um thats about it for today, soon i will go to sleep, see u all in the morning:)

day 3 of phuket

So today we went to a temple, got to see some buddas and a monk and how the thai religion works, after that me&air went to her grandmothers for a vist, then took air to the bus, bc she has to go back to hatyai to study until november, after that it was kinda slow, watched tv and worked on the blog. thats all for now miss&love you all

Day 2 of phuket

sawasdeeka everyone! today was a busy day for me, i woke up arondd 8:30ish and ate some breakfast and got a shower. i tryed some fruit called ngor very good kinda lookes like a sea eurchin on the outside and a grape in the middle (you eat the middle part). so the day started off with me goin to my school, phuketwittayalai to register. it is very big and a population of 3000 studnets grades 7-12 (m1 m2 m3 -m4 m5 m6) i met a english teacher very nice and i soon will choose the courses that i will take(i start school august 7th). after that we went and got my uniform the colors are blue and white, a white shirt with my "thai name" eliza maipanich and the name of my school, also wearing a black skirt, shoes and white socks. after that we went to a thai seafood restraunt, by the marina(very god food) i ate a little baby squid! ahaha after that we went to my host moms sisters hotel on karon beach very beautiful, we didnt have time to swim but i got pictures!. i also met this dog , that survived the tsunami, a hero in my books!. after the beach we went to small mall to buy stuff for the monk tmr when we go to the temple(monks dont work or get paid so thai people give them food, water and shampoo and etc to show thier respect. while i was in this mall i saw oak workin at macdonalds, i missed him. so we exchanged numbers so ill will see him soon:). after this we went home and, got ready for the rotary meeting which u need to wear formal clothes like a shirt or pants, no flipflops tho.!!! haha um the meeting was very short compared to back home and they made me feel very welcome and i liked being there. imet a girl kathy from germany, who has been here for 2months(im jealous she cant speak thai, hoepfully i wil soon. After the meeting tanit(last years YEO) and manapeen(my YEO) and also borronit another rotarian in the club and air my host sister , all went out to a restraunt for japenese food, very good but different. alot of uncooked seafood, it tasted good anyway:P.now its 12;12 and i will go to bed soon, untill my adventures tmr,

my first day in phuket

so today i woke up late , ate some delicious thai food, called kanonjen its a noodle with curry and other spices. i practised some thai, i know more than two now!!! yay haha. um today was kinda a slow day i didnt do much untll my luggage came(which was a relief) i got a shower then we went to pick up my host mom at the car shop and then we went to phuket town and i saw all the busy streets and people here, very crazy in the town. after that air needed to get her bus ticket to go to the town she is studying in for thursday so we got that and we went to the huge mall here in phuket. we went and got ice cream(mm so good) and then got groceries. after that air had to go to the doctors so i went home with ma(my host mom) and jus chilled and had a nap lol then i watched dr. dolittle and ate supper and went to bed. untill tmr, elyse xoxo

hello everyone, i would like to explain what happened with me since i left halifax: so i said my goodbyes to my mom&dad my brother adam, my aunt fern&condon and my godmother carolyn which was very teary you could say. so i headed to customs and then waited at the terminal and off t st.johns(nfld) and then heathrow(england) airport for a 12 hour long wait. on this flight i met this very nice family from halifax and the father is a professer at dal, and they were on thier way to india for a visit with thier family. i then fly to kuala lumpur, Malaysia which is a 12 hr flight itself, i did sleep most of this flight which passed some time but i also watched a movie(firewall) and a episode of friends and family guy. so i get to malayasia airport and its very confusing and i had no idea where i was goin, but i soon found my way to my gate and found a plug and fired up the laptop. then it was off to phuket which i got some cool pictures while flying above it, but anyway when i got there i had no luggage it didnt make it from malaysia, but i got it the next day so that was a relief:). waiting for me at the airport was air(YE to vancover) and two other YE;s goin to canada(pei) and US(washington) also surapee and tanit and a few others from the rotary club. they took me to a thai restraunt and ate some real enthnic thai food(which ios very very good. after that, i went to my first host family (maipanich) which is air;s family. they are very nice people , but thier english isnt so good but thats ok, im gonna kill thai anyway lol
they gave me a cell phone to have while im here and also some clothes bc i didnt have my luggage. so far thats what ive been doin here in thailand, new posts to come soon. bye all xoxo
